You are viewing an article from the Destination Clubs category.
Providing luxury residences around the globe used to be the sole function of destination clubs, but now clubs also host extravagant events, like wine tours and fishing trips, for their members that undoubtedly serve as marketing tools to attract new members to the club.
Members are invited to bring guests to most of these events and those guests, of course, are potential new members. While destination clubs boast that they are providing unique experiences for their current members, they are also showing off their services and amenities for promising new ones.
Exclusive Resorts, the largest destination club, just released their Members Events 2008 calendar which features eight trips. In April, members and their guests are invited spend four days in Las Vegas where they can drive by the strip in a Ferrari, attend the Mario Andretti Racing School for a day and enjoy VIP seats at a Cirque du Soleil show. Other adventures throughout the year include sailing with an America’s Cup captain in Newport, R.I., and skiing fresh powder in Vail before anyone else on a Friday morning in December.
Only one event is limited to members only. At the 2008 Member Golf Tour and Invitational, attendees must in fact qualify for the invitational, which will be held in Los Cabos, Mex., by playing on championship courses across the U.S., each located near an Exclusive Resorts residence.
Members of Ultimate Resort and their guests can tee off at the Ultimate Resort 2008 Member-Guest Golf Weekend this March in Orlando, Fla. Along with the golf tournament and banquet, members and guests will be treated to a party on Friday night and a champagne brunch on Sunday. To complete the ultimate golf weekend, tickets to the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which is the same week, are available on request.
If spending money on these events on top of the destination club cost seems too extravagant, you’ll be happy to learn there is a charitable focus to some of the trips. The Children’s Home Society of Florida, a community-based organization dedicated to helping families and children, is the official sponsor of Ultimate Resort’s Golf Weekend. Exclusive Resorts offers a Habitat for Humanity member event where members and guests can build a house in Scottsdale, Ariz. But even this event has its luxury perks. Building the home is followed by a gourmet banquet for members.
