The biggest destination clubs are based in the U.S. and target stateside members, but if you are looking to add a few more far flung locations to your travel roster, consider an international club. New clubs have sprung up in recent years including Dream Circle, a South Africa-based club and Botiga, a new United Kingdom-based offering with properties planned for Oman, the Maldives, Kenya, and Patagonia, among other exotic locations. Here are five established destination clubs based outside of the U.S. that take a truly global view of vacationing.

Canada: M Private Residences Poolside at M Private Residence's Provence Property

Located in Calgary, M Private Residences isn’t exactly on the other side of the globe, but this club’s 16 properties in six countries make it a strong international player. Destinations include Barbados, London, and St. Remy in France’s Provence region, among others, with an average home value of $2 million. As Canada’s first equity destination club, M Private Residences has about 120 members and offers two types of memberships, starting at $260,000 with annual dues of $12,000 per year. At resignation, the membership deposit is refundable at 100 percent of going the rate for memberships minus an eight percent fee.

United Kingdom: The Hideaways Club

London-based the Hideaways Club boasts a portfolio of more than a dozen homes in Europe and Africa, including Tuscany, Marrakech, and Kalkan Heights, a seaside town in Turkey. Hideaways plans to build a portfolio of 100 properties in 30 locations. The current average home value is $2 million. The club’s two membership levels are based on points system that allow members to customize their usage, requiring more points during busier travel seasons. The Premium membership includes 100 points for £200,000, or $393,500, while the Lifestyle membership offers 70 points for £133,333 (about $262,000) up front. Three off-peak nights is worth 11 points, while busier travel times require 14 points for that same amount of time. Up to one week of usage can be rolled over from one year to the next. After three years, members can resign and get deposit refunds at the current going rate, minus a 5 percent fee.

Ireland: The Oyster Circle Oystercirclecannes

Dublin-based the Oyster Circle not surprisingly has a strong European presence with homes in ten countries including Austria, France, and Spain, as well as homes in the Bahamas, South Africa, and St. Lucia. It plans to acquire homes in Greece and Monaco as well. The club aims for a real estate portfolio comprised of 67 homes in as many as 50 locations. Deposit levels range from €300,000, or $490,000, for 28 days of stays a year. The 35 day plan is available for the same initial deposit but requires annual dues of $37,000, $6,200 more than the 28 day plan. Oyster Cycle offers an 80 percent deposit refund in the second, third, and fourth years of membership, and either 100 percent of the deposit or 80 percent of the market value of the share, whichever is higher, in the fifth year. Resignation is not permitted in the first year of membership.

New Zealand, Europe and North America: Distinctive Holiday Homes

A truly global club, Distinctive Holiday Homes has offices in France, the U.K., North America and New Zealand. Destinations include homes in Paris, Aukland and Fiji, as well as two large yachts. Average home value is $3.28 million. With both land and sea properties and a private jet alliance, Distinctive Holiday Homes offers membership flexibility. The club has six plans, ranging from a seven night $50,000 plan to a $250,000 offering that includes 35 nights of stays. Membership prices are set to jump March 1, with the least expensive plan rising to $60,000 and other plans jumping from $20,000 to $50,000 each. Resignation from Distinctive Holiday Homes is on a one-in/one-out basis, and 80 percent of the deposit is refunded.

Singapore: Banyan Tree Private Collection

Asia’s first asset-backed destination club, Banyan Tree Private Collection, is headquartered in Singapore with offices in China, Japan and the U.K. As a relatively new player, Banyan Tree has about 75 members and homes average $2.5 million in value. A $120,000 deposit secures seven days of annual use. A corporate membership plan is also available for $220,000 that includes two weeks of use. Properties are a mix of two-bedroom villas at Banyan Tree resorts throughout Asia and three- to five-bedroom villas in Tuscany, Provence and London. Additional acquisitions are planned in North and South America and Australia.
