All the industry players were in attendance at the recent Destination Club Association meeting in Denver. We used the opportunity to catch up with Exclusive Resorts CEO Jeff Potter to talk about the latest in the industry and what’s next for the club.
Potter cited rapid and sustained growth for Exclusive Resorts over the last four years, coupled with increasing membership satisfaction despite the larger size of the club. Nevertheless, Potter was insistent that the club “is always looking to improve.” According to Potter, the recent real estate slowdown dovetails well into the value proposition of destination clubs. Instead of exposing themselves to the ups and downs of the real estate market vis-à-vis second home ownership, members can simply enjoy their vacations in a destination club home. He emphasized that the club “sells experience, not real estate.”
With over 3,000 members and 350 homes in 35 locations, Exclusive Resorts is the clear industry leader among destination clubs. The club recently announced a major overhaul of its membership plans for 2008. The streamlined plans were designed to increase membership options while clarifying some of the more confusing aspects of destination club membership.
Watch the complete video below, and stay tuned tomorrow for part two of our CEO interviews, where we talk with High Country Club’s Christian Kirschner.
