While Aspen, Colo. may be known worldwide as a winter wonderland, loved as much for its peaks and chutes as it is for its boisterous après ski scene, it might surprise you to learn that former mining town is equally popular during the summer months. And why not? The weather is warm, the wild flowers are in bloom, and there are so many trails to hike and streams to fish, and hundreds of other ways idle away the summer days.
Take the annual Food & Wine Classic, running from June 13 to 15 this year, a three-day culinary extravaganza featuring the finest food and drink from either side of the Rockies. Just about every celebrity chef makes his way to the festival from southwestern wunderkind Bobby Flay to classic gastronomists like Thomas Keller.
But when you’ve tired of eating, and drinking, and hiking, and biking, and swimming, one of the best ways to take advantage of a summer trip to Aspen is the chance to check out real estate for your winter ski vacations. With that in mind, Halogen Guides has created a destination guide to Aspen, covering the mountain enclave’s ample real estate opportunities.
While the cost of stand-alone homes makes Aspen one of the nation’s priciest communities, there are a host of ownership opportunities. No less than five destination clubs (High Country Club, Lusso, Quintess, Exclusive Resorts, and Solstice) feature homes in either Aspen or nearby Snowmass. Meanwhile fractional offerings, like those at the Hyatt Grand Aspen and the Ritz Carlton Club at Aspen Highlands, continue to multiply throughout the town.
The Aspen Guide is one of a series produced by Halogen Guides on the world’s hottest vacation real estate markets, each with detailed listings of properties and articles on how far your dollar will go. Check out our guides to San Francisco and Cabo San Lucas, and stay tuned for Lake Tahoe.
