Lussocabonew While second home buyers have been sitting on the sidelines for the past year, destination clubs are continuing to add to their portfolios, maintaining that delicate balance of buying new homes to satisfy current member demand and bringing in new members to finance the purchase of properties.

The Lusso Collection announced two new properties this week, adding inventory in locations where they already have a presence. The club added a third home in Cabo San Lucas, which ranks at the most popular location for destination club residences. This 5,000 square foot four-bedroom home in a gated, oceanfront development, has an outdoor kitchen, infinity-edge pool, and a swim up bar. It is a short walk away from the Sea of Cortez and guests can access the amenities at the adjacent Esperanza Resort.

The club also added a third residence in Naples, Fla.. While south Florida has been hit hard in the real estate slowdown (median sales prices are down some 17 percent over the last year statewide), the upper end of the Naples market seems to be faring better. According to the Naples Area Board of Realtors, median sales prices of homes with price tags of $2 million and higher were essentially flat over the last 12 months ending in April 2008.

The latest announcements cap a busy spring for Lusso, as the club moves to grow its real estate footprint this year to 39 homes in 21 locations. Over the last two months it added properties in Anguilla and announced a Turks and Caicos home in April.
