The developer behind Punta Mita, a 1,500-acre gated second home community just north of Puerto Vallarta, is rolling out a new collection of luxury homes with price tags ranging from $1.45 million to $2.35 million.

The 14 residences, perched on a mountainside and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, resemble mini-compounds with separate buildings, or casitas, for the master suite and guest rooms. The homes have three- or four-bedrooms along with a swimming pool, and the living room and kitchen areas are located in their own stand-alone dwelling.

The homes are currently in pre-construction sales as development continues at Punta Mita, a popular second home resort area that saw real estate sales jump 30 percent last year. This fall, a second Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course will open along with a St. Regis resort. There are several other vacation home options in Punta Mita, including single-family homes, condominiums, and home lots, but most options start north of $1 million. One of the least expensive options are the condominiums (some projects are in preconstruction sales now) at Ayia Punta Mita which start at $750,000. The Four Seasons Residence Club in Punta Mita has shares that secure two weeks of use a year starting at $200,000. Alternatively, destination club Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club has a home in Punta Mita while Ultimate Escapes has one three-bedroom home near Punta Mita, about ten minutes from the Four Seasons, in its real estate portfolio.
