Shockjock Limbaugh to Purchase G-550 After Payday

Marquis Jet - Gulfstream 550 Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh cashed in with a record $400 million contract that will extend his time on the airwaves through 2016. Now that Clear Channel and Premiere Radio have ponied up a near $38 million a year salary, along with a nine figure signing bonus, the frequently controversial Limbaugh is looking to spend.

The first item on his shopping list? Limbaugh told listeners on his program today that he’ll be purchasing a new Gulfstream G-550 jet. Depending on options, and how long he wants to wait for his order, the intercontinental range jet will set him back somewhere between $45 million and $70 million.

One thing is for sure: Limbaugh, an ardent free-market conservative and avowed global warming denier won’t feel any pangs of guilt flying solo. For private flyers with a social and environmental conscious, we recommend the purchase of carbon offsets.

Congratulations Rush on being successful and buying a great plane. What a crock on carbon offsets. Just two years ago the leader of the house wanted a large jet, larger than the President. And this was on the taxpayers money.

Private flyers don't have an environmental "conscious" (nice spelling, write much?). One only need note the Hollywood green hypocrisy to recognize it. Most of them fly on private jets; yet, that never stops them from lecturing the rest of us about our carbon footprint. Puh-lease. They don't mind flying cross-country between sets, but oh, no...the rest of us pee-ons aren't allowed to do it. We're destroying the planet. This whole carbon offset thing needs to be buried. It's more like "hypocrisy offsets," if you ask me.

"Free-market conservative"--that's a good one! But "believer in corporate welfare" would be more accurate. Profits should be private, but when things go down the tubes, The Government should bail big business out, even as the CEO's get hundreds of millions of dollars, eh Rush? Only in America could a drooling, draft-dodging junkie get paid $38 million a year to lecture us on "conservatism" and "patriotism." Only in America could a guy with four failed marriages get paid to rant and rave about "the sanctity of marriage."

I guess Alec Rosekrans thinks Albore's extravagance is perfectly OK? Or did he think about John Travolta's? Was just wondering from where Alec was coming from. Now I know.

I think it's great Rush is buying a jet. The aircraft industry is struggling. A lot of the airports in this area are losing their fixed base operators and the bigger ones are losing service options. The more people getting into aviation, be it Cessnas or Gulfstreams, the better. I think I might have gone with the Bell/Agusta BA609 (because it can park on my property) instead of the Gulfstream G-550 though, but that's just me. Austin, you should listen to the show before assuming you know what's on it. There's a reason why Rush's audience is growing while his competitors on TV and in print are declining.

If rich liberals, including al gore don't have a problem flying solo in private jets, why should Rush?    If global warming is a serious problem, liberals and the hollywood sect should treat it as such. Their actions prove global warming isn't as serious as they preach.

"Just two years ago the leader of the house wanted a large jet, larger than the President. " WTF? Nancy Pelosi wanted something BIGGER that a Boeing 747? That doesn't ring true.
