Two Helium Report readers notified us yesterday about a new destination club called Ciel. Both were sent membership information packets, which one described as “velvet-y” and the other as the “best marketing material I have received.”
Ciel has been in stealth mode, according to Debra Nordgren, VP of Sales, and just started reaching out to prospective members this week. We’ll post more information about the club once we receive our copy of these lauded materials and speak with their PR firm.
What we’ve learned so far: Ciel is an ultra-luxury destination club that will accept a maximum of 100 members. It’s the latest venture of J. Joseph Ricketts, the founder of Ameritrade, which acquired TD Waterhouse last year. He’s the ‘other’ billionaire from Omaha, Nebraska (#133 on the Forbes 400, instead of #2.)
Ricketts is the third billionaire to launch a destination club, joining Tim Blixsethe of Yellowstone Club World and Steve Case of Exclusive Resorts.
