The jet charter business continues to see new entrants and innovations that will provide more options to smart consumers. Life will get a little harder for the some of the existing players if these new companies gain more traction. Earlier this month we spoke to Paul Svensen, CEO of one of these newer entrants, JetNetwork.

JetNetwork is not Svensen’s first venture in catering to the affluent. He was a founder of ebizjets, which later became Sentient Jet, the industry leader in fleet cards. With Jet Network, he is about half way to his target of signing 750 clients. His strategy is to offer better pricing, which he achieves by offering less flexibility in flight scheduling.

Svensen believes that 95% of the time, his customers know where they want to fly at least 48 hours in advance of departure. So that is the booking window he offers, and in his opinion, avoids the logistical expense of last minute trips. The other 5%, he says, are emergency or business trips and for these he can arrange an on-demand charter at a higher price. Svensen also says that he will never add a fuel surcharge and his contract is simple to sign and easy to get out of. We will spend more time with him over the coming weeks to better understand his services, and hope to hear from some of his customers as well. It’s clear that entrepreneurs continue to offer new and compeling ways to fly private.
