Well, we got a free lunch

I need to get better at this…having bought the first lunch when we met up with Quintess, the next time Ben Addoms, one of the founders, was in town, he bought me lunch. But, that’s nothing like the treatment that columnist Stephen Schurr from the Financial Times received – a long weekend for he and his family at a Quintess home in Paris.

Our readers have asked us if we visit the homes at the destination clubs we profile. Our answer has been that we don’t think that a planned visit, where you assume that the club pulls out all the stops, is representative of what the typical club member experience might be. In general, we think the better clubs, including Quintess, offer comprehensive home photos and floorplans that at least tell some of the story.

No, at Helium Report, rather than traveling the world staying in luxury homes, we would rather stay inside, discussing the relative merits of each clubs refund policies, or tweaking our spreadsheets so that we can tell you what a night really costs to stay in one of these homes.

Quintess obviosuly delivered for the FT columnist, who ended his story with:

"If the players continue to execute as well as Quintess did during my brief does of Paris in the Springtime, expect the destination club industry to grow much further."

Yeah, well, we wouldn’t know…too busy reworking the spreadsheet
