You are viewing an article from the Destination Clubs category.
Fifty-five years ago, you could have purchased the entire island for less than the cost of a destination club membership today. South Carolina’s Kiawah Island features five championship golf courses, two luxury resorts, and ten miles of beachfront homes on 10,000 acres.
Two of the estates are destination club homes located a short walk from each other. 92 Bass Creek Lane in Feburary and discovered 48 Ocean Course Drive (Leading Residences of the World) is valued in the same mid$3M range, according to Zillow.
Forbes features Kiawah Island as their “destination of the week” and cites a luxury hotel as your best option for accomodations, outside of purchasing your own home:
Although there are other lodging options on Kiawah Island, The Sanctuary is the most luxurious place to stay—short of buying your own beachfront mansion, of course. Room rates start at $275 per night.
Since you can’t buy the island for $125,000 anymore (1951 price), we’d suggest looking into one of the two residences above or one of Exclusive Resorts’ seven homes (two more in development). At $300-500 per bedroom based on our calculations, the destination clubs provide the benefits of a second vacation home at a cost-per-night comparable to a luxury hotel.
Exclusive Resorts: private pool; Kiawah Island home
