We recently had the opportunity to speak with Portofino Destinations Club member Tommy Vickers about his experience with the club. Vickers was the fifth member to join Portofino back in 2003 and has been a satisfied customer ever since. He says he has also referred about 12 new members over the years.

As one of the first members, Vickers has seen the club struggle with its share of growing pains over the years. He praised the club chairman and co-founder, Ron Tapp, for his proficient handling of each challenge along the way.

Mr. Vickers shared the following with us about his decision to join Portofino Club:

1. Trust: Vickers knew Ron Tapp personally and trusted Tapp’s business skills, financial stability and commitment to the club.
2. Location: Portofino offers homes in the right locations for Vickers and his family. They live in Denver, Colorado, making travel to the west coast and Mexico convenient and ideal.
3. Member Services: Vickers noted that Portofino is run like a “small family business.” They pay close attention to their customers’ needs and desires. As an early member, Vickers had the chance to voice his opinions on new home locations and additional features.

Tommy Vickers is semi-retired from his career in real estate and lives in Denver with his wife. He likes to spend his free time traveling with his family and playing golf.

He is the father of two grown children, ages 36 and 34; one lives in Florida and the other in California. The Portofino Club is a great way for him to get the whole family together for holidays and quick visits. He meets his daughter and her family at the Santa Barbara, CA home for Thanksgivings and vacations at the Naples, FL home with his son. Vickers is an avid golfer and a member of the U.S. Seniors Golf Association as well as the International Seniors Golf Association. He plays golf at each Portofino location he travels to and has been pleased with each of the courses. Cabo is one of his favorite Portofino locations but he has also stayed at the club’s homes in Whistler, Napa, Naples, Palm Springs, London and New York. His family plans to visit the Italy destinations this summer for his birthday.

When asked about the recent club acquisition of Signature Destinations, Vickers informed us that he was thrilled to hear the news. He can’t wait to visit the additional homes in the Pacific Northwest and notes that existing homes are being updated as well.
