I have just about come to the conclusion that the Saturday/Sunday edition of the Wall Street Journal is not worth the effort, especially since the kids’ schedules seem to eat into any free time in the morning that might be spent reading it. But there is some good stuff in there.
Best this past weekend was the review of golf course developer’s fascination with impossibly hard courses – written by John Paul Newport. According to Newport, golfers hit about 120,000 balls (about 3 per golfer) into the water, trying to hit the green at the 17th hole of Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass in Florida – a course that is #98 on Golfdigest.com’s Top 100 Golf Courses in America list.
That’s about $250 grand or more in lost balls.
