LUSSO Collection has partnered with MedjetAssist and now includes a year of emergency medical evacuation service in its club membership package. The offer covers all LUSSO Collection members and their families – free of charge. After the first year, LUSSO members can extend their MedjetAssist coverage at a discounted price. medjetassistlogo11206.jpg

If you’re traveling in some remote locale and need to be hospitalized, MedjetAssist will fly you by medical jet to the hospital of your choice. As we mentioned in a previous post about MedJetAssist, a domestic air ambulance trip is around $20,000 and international trips can be as much as $75,000.

Air evacuation isn’t really necessary if you’re staying in LUSSO’s Manhattan property, but if you have an emergency at the club’s Mexico, Panama, or Bahamas locations the Medjet service could literally be a life-saver.

MedjetAssist fees range from $205 per individual to $325 per family for an annual membership. Clients can also purchase short-term packages, which range from $75 per individual to $140 per family for 7 days. The cost to LUSSO is relatively small in comparison to the $25,000 annual dues, but the benefit gives peace of mind to the club’s members. Perhaps more destination clubs should offer the same service since it’s a nominal expense and a nice value-added feature, especially for remote locations or ski destinations.

lussologo110106.jpgBasic Details of Service:

  • Covers domestic and international
  • No medical questions if you are under 75
  • No dollar limit on evacuation
  • No deductibles, co-payments, claim forms
  • Must be hospitalized more than 150 miles from home
  • Service is 24 hours, 7 days a week

While researching MedjetAssist, we also discovered that the firm rents satellite phones through Cellhire. If you’re planning an extreme back-country adventure, you can rent a satellite phone for $100 a week or $250 a month (additional airtime charges apply). Might be worth having to call up the Medjet in case of emergency.
