The Markers Destination Club.jpgThe Markers, a golf-centric destination club featuring ten homes in prime golf destinations, has acquired an equity interest in the Private Club Network, the nation’s largest independent club-to-club reciprocal network. Under the terms of the agreement, The Markers’ member will enjoy access to the 185 private golf clubs affiliated with the Private Golf Networks for a cart fee of only $25.

“Golf fanatic” members of The Markers will certainly enjoy access to Private Golf Network’s extensive golf course portfolio. However, under the terms of the agreement, Private Club Network members will be able to access a special Markers residence stay at a preferential price. The partnership thus potentially adds hundreds if not thousands new requests for The Markers’ properties.

In addition to the recently announced partnership with BelleHavens which allows reciprocity for members for booking selected properties of each company’s portfolio, The Markers’ might experience a surge in requests. Helium Report asked The Markers’ Founder and Chairman, Mitch Brinton how the destination club plans to handle peak-time availability and reservations. The Markers has a planned occupancy of 60% in its home portfolio and only ten homes are currently available.

“Currently, The Markers is experiencing excess availability on its properties,” explained Brinton. “We plan to accommodate requests from Private Club Network members on available houses within a 90 days window.”

With this agreement, The Markers has a chance to showcase its model to non-members in their target market and boost membership, but Brinton plans to phase out reservation benefits to non-members. “We are currently in growth phase, but we realize that as our own membership grows extending The Markers experience to non-members will not be possible anymore.”

At that point in time, according to Brinton, The Markers’ members will retain access to the Private Club Network’s benefits but not vice-versa. There is no explicit agreement among the partners of how or when this unilateral termination of benefits will be structured. “We devised this partnership with full approval of our membership, which has considered pros and cons of the agreement and gave us full approval to sign it,” adds Brinton. “Our members are thrilled.”

Home availability is a key element to consider when evaluating destination club membership. Helium Reports likes The Markers’ effort to add more value to its members and we are happy that Brinton seems to appreciate the availability challenge.
