The relatively new and ultra-luxurious destination club, Ciel, created an “Executive Membership” option for their clients last month.
Ciel’s Director of Memberships, Tom Harrington, said that the club’s move was based on needs articulated by its members:
“The Executive Membership is designed for the needs of busy professionals and families with obligations that somewhat limit the opportunities they have to make extensive use of Ciel, but still desire the same levels of access and service that we offer in our original Explorer Membership.”
According to Harrington, the new membership option has reduced the advance-notice window of time to make space available, however, the right to reserve any property during the year has been halved (to 20 days compared with the original 40). All memberships still receive 24/7 concierge service and assistance with luxury travel planning.
Ciel is likely extending a new membership option in an effort to compete with private residence clubs. NorthCourse’s annual fractional interest report stated a 32% increase in sales of fractional real estate during 2006.
