Baja, Calif. is gearing up to attract more boating enthusiasts with Porto Hussong, a second home development in, Ensenada, Mexico, an area that’s a mecca for deep sea fishing enthusiasts. The development, 90 miles south of San Diego, broke ground this fall and when complete in 2009, will feature the largest mega yacht marina on the Pacific coast.

What’s for sale

One-tenth shares of three and four bedroom condos at the Meridian Club, the resort’s private residence club. Prices range from $230,000 to $350,000 for 4,500 to 7,400 square foot units.

What you get

Five weeks of use each year. These 14 penthouse residences are located on the top two levels of the property’s 11-story condominium towers and have grand terraces with ocean views. The units have open family rooms and entertainment areas, and a den that can morph into an office or guest room. Owners can also house their overflow guests by booking a room at the boutique hotel on the property. Additionally, owners can swap weeks for stays at other fractional properties that belong to the Registry Collection.

Beyond the appeal of the luxury condos, it is the oversized marina that will undoubtedly draw second home buyers. Meridian Club owners get access to a 74-foot Viking yacht and are members of the Porto Hussong Yacht Club. The marina can accommodate 284 yachts, with 76 berths tailored for mega yachts of up to 400 feet in length.
