There is no shortage of condominiums in South Florida these days (the Multiple Listing Service has nealy 23,000 condos and townhomes for sale in Miami alone) and while some projects have stalled, there are noteable projects getting ready to open their doors. In January the Gansevoort Hotel Group will open its first property outside of New York.
The South Beach Gansevoort South Hotel, Spa and Residences building, an 1960s art deco relic, is being redesigned to feature 259 residences, 334 hotel rooms and a 26,000-square-foot tropical rooftop retreat that will mimic its counterpart Hotel Gansevoort in New York City.
The building will also feature a 40,000-square-foot infinity-edge pool with teak decking, palm trees, oversized circular beds, with plush cabanas and tented alcoves, an oversized Jacuzzi and bar and restaurant on the main level.
The beach level will include the club’s main bar, seating area, oversized lounges, cabanas, volleyball courts and fire pits, and coco palm trees, cabanas, a bar and lounge, and a 110-foot elevated swimming pool will cover the rooftop.
The Gansevoort South will also house a DavidBartonGym + Spa, a city block of luxury boutiques, restaurants by Philippe Chow, a lounge by The Opium Group and a dramatic 50-foot shark tank with 27 types of fish and sharks.
The residences at Gansevoort South include studio and one-, two- and three-bedroom residences ranging from 847 to 5,000 square feet, with views of Miami Beach and Biscayne Bay, starting at $600,000.
All residences have fully tiled bathrooms with six-foot soaking tubs, floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to expansive glass-trimmed balconies, and custom kitchens with Wolf, SubZero and Watermark appliances.
The Gansevoort South is also currently taking reservations for stays at its hotel starting January 28, at rates between $595 and $6500 a night, according to the Gansevoort Hotel’s web site. The Gansevoort South is located at the north end of Collins Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets at Miami Beach, 12 miles from Miami International Airport.
