The undeniable downer of any ski trip is inevitably the gear. Packing up boots, boards and poles and toting them to a vacation home is a chore while on-site rentals at a ski resort can suck up valuable slope time that first day. Destination clubs, as part of their services are increasingly making the ski trip even more seamless linking mountain-bound members with concierge type services.
Destination club members who are also snow lovers can now take advantage of in-home fitting and delivery of rental equipment and accessories for skiing and snowboarding through a service called Ski Butlers. The ski concierge company has provided fittings and rentals to members of Exclusive Resorts, Ultimate Resort, Private Escapes, and Lusso Collection, among others.
After three and a half years of operation, Ski Butlers provides service to more than 24 resorts in California and the Rockies, including Heavenly and Kirkwood in California; Aspen, Breckenridge, and Keystone in Colorado; Utah’s Deer Valley, and Whistler/Blackcomb in British Columbia. The areas it serves are not only hubs for destination club homes but also popular locations for private residence clubs.
Prices for gear vary by resort. At Whistler, a ski and ski boot rental package goes for $22 to $47 a day, while Vail and Park City rentals top out at $55 a day. Ski Butlers lets clients change up their sport mid-vacation. You can start the week out on skis and switch to a snowboard halfway through the trip for a $15 swap fee. Reservations can be handled online at the Ski Butlers website.
