Road Test Update: Quintess Responds with Green Program

Quintess Times Square In December we wrote about our stay in two Quintess condominiums at their Times Square property in the heart of midtown Manhattan. Our trip, overall, met our expectations; we stayed in beautiful and spacious apartments (a welcome change from a cramped New York City hotel room), were assisted by an attentive concierge and enjoyed five-star perks like having our luggage transported and unpacked when we moved between condominiums. But there were a few areas that left room for improvement at the property.

The good news? Our complaints didn’t go unnoticed. Quintess responded immediately to the concerns we brought up and took steps to make changes.

We thought that getting new towels every day during our short stay was environmentally unfriendly. Turns out, Quintess agrees. We learned that they already had a program in the works, set to roll out early this year, to help travelers conserve both energy and water at Quintess homes. The program provides cards for each home that allow members to select options like opting out of daily fresh towels from housekeeping, taking a cue from initiatives now in place in many luxury hotels. This program was started, in part, because of member feedback, according to Lisa Weltz, a Quintess spokesperson.

As for the missing power strip that left us searching on hands and knees for a free outlet? Quintess tells us that power strips are in fact standard amenities at all of its properties and should be located near bedside tables and in home office areas. The absence in our codnominiums was an “anomaly,” according to the club, and Quintess did more than apologize for the lapse. They met with field management and property hosts to ensure that small, but inconvenient, glitches like this one won’t happen again. The club also informed us that they had addressed our issue with the property host switch mid-way through our trip.

Beyond maintaining service standards at their current properties, Quintess has been active on the real estate development front. The club is in the process of negotiating a new location within a resort enclave. It will be the second such development for the club. The first, announced last year, is a $50 million project in Cabo San Lucas. Quintess isn’t ready to announce specifics on the new development, but the club spokesperson did say that the new project would be especially appealing for its East Coast members.
