Destination clubs distinguish themselves from one another with their grand homes and attractive real estate locations but clubs also make their mark on service. In fact, solving members’ travel problems and providing turn key vacation planning is undoubtedly a huge part of the destination club sales pitch. For both existing members and consumers considering joining a club there are a slew of questions that go beyond location and amenities.
With that in mind, Helium Report is stepping into a club member’s shoes with a series of destination club Q&A columns that pose travel conundrums and membership plan questions to clubs. Each week, one or two destination clubs will offer their solution to our readers’ questions. If you have a question for a destination club, we’ll get it answered. Send inquiries to questions@heliumreport.com.
Helium Report: I’m a potential club member and I want to make sure I get a home during the holidays. What do you recommend?
Ben Addoms, Founder and Executive Vice President, Quintess:
We have a variety of choices for someone who’s just joined to select from. We just completed our Christmas/New Years Holiday lottery and our remaining Christmas week 2008 availability currently includes Amelia Island, Deer Valley, Florence, Jackson Hole, Kiawah, London, Los Cabos, Napa, New York, Paris and even Tuscany. This is a perfect example of how Quintess, LRW maintains excellent holiday availability.
Steve Greer, CEO, Lusso Collection:
We have three priority groups for Holidays—(1) Christmas/New Years, (2) Spring Break and Presidents Day Week and (3) Others (e.g. Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving). Of these three, the last is by far the least traveled and offers a good bet for availability. As a rule, MLK Day is typically not as traveled as one might expect, and New Years is more popular than Christmas.

ership. The fact that LUSSO thought ahead enough to set up priority groups (rather than the lottery system, or "fastest finger" methods) makes it fair for the members, and assures all members are able to travel during peak times.

We have never had an issue booking a New Year/Christmas week with HCC. Infact, at this very moment, there is a decent amount of Christmas and New Year week inventory left.(20%+) Also, HCC members are only allowed to book the same holiday week once in thr

but the question, what have other members really experienced at holidays, especially members at ER? How does Helium think clubs are handling peak availability issues?
